Started from the bottom ...
Yeah another blog entry! This time i want to talk a little bit about Yunohost.
Maybe you already read the little about them but i'll explain it with my own words. Yunohost as Y U NO -meme is a solution for selfhosting for people with a little knowledge about linux and server administration. It's a Debian based OS and Yunohost packages are on top of this.
I installed this on a Thinkpad X220. (if you didn't know this already, where the F you been?) I access it through the command line on the laptop or SSH when i'm away. And it's pretty everything.
... Now we here.
I hit a few road blocks with it. First one were the Raspberry Pi. I didn't have a heavy usage of it and RPi weren't powerful enough to make it right so. Next. I'm pretty happy with my whole yunohost config so far. but there's still some stuff that are annoying and can be very frustrating.
And that's why today i had to reset my whole Matrix configuration. I had some issues since a big update (Debian migration to Bullseye). System updates are always tested first so as a stable user of yunohost i don't encounter bugs there. BUT PACKAGES??? YES. I had a few apps updates to do. As i always do, i run them before system updates because if they require a updated system the thing just stop with a warning.
but today i felt tired and just went for apps update first and all packages option instead of updating only safer apps, one at the time. The Synapse package broke. so i tried to restore it through backups, it failed. then i saw the errors and some script removed the package without any warning, so i reinstalled it but nah. It's not the first time this specific package breaks. The kind of app you have to watch the forum first for any problems and I don't want this.
So today i installed Dendrite. i hope it will be better than Synapse
