library stuff
I pretty much love to talk about my local library online, because it's one of the coolest place in my new city. So here some stuff i borrowed lately.
i wanted to listen some guitar and i searched for Rodrigo Y Gabriela. And i wasn't satisfied with the results, my local library has 2 album of them. Then i searched in classification and found a lot of CDs with Woman + guitar-like instrument on album cover. I really enjoyed finding those.
Filomena Moretti | Jeux Interdits & other famous guitar encores 0.661 MOR |
It was pretty much what i was searching for, the album is really cool. I don't know her but it was noice. |
Lingling Yu | Xu Lai, Musique classique chinoise 9.48 YU 1 |
It was amazing, i really enjoyed it, i think i'm gonna borrow more album of classical chinese music. |
Souad Massi | Deb 9.23 MAS 2 |
It was ok, i listened less than the two first album up there but i had a great time! |
Waed Bouhassoun | La voix de la passion 9.27 BOU |
INCREDIBLE!, I really loved it. Unfortunately i can't understand the poetry without the leaflet, but it's ok because it contains translations! I was expecting more Oud, but i stayed for the voice |
Nesrine | Act 1.371 NES |
Wasn't fond of that one, she has a great voice tho. I still enjoyed it, but less than the others |
I also borrowed a CD called "Radio Pyongyang: Commie Funk and Agit Pop from the Hermit Kingdom" (9.47 RAD 2)
Disclamer, the classification codes use the PCDM system (which doesn't to be popular outside France) If you're curious enough you can look up PCDM 4, PDF This is only for audio documents of course and the rest of the library use CDD system. -i think.
GameJam
I went to a Gamejam! It was really awesome and i did my part.
Link to itch.io page of the gamejam
We were almost 20 people, so we made few groups. All of us had so much different skillsets! The rules were simple, "make games, have fun" but we had to use Godot Engine (the 4.4 version was out the next day of the gamejam so we used 4.3). The Themes were: "Local Multiplayer" and "It's almost spring". We made a lot of iteration of those themes.
I contributed to the game called "Sombre Printemps" and i did some sound design, the intro-song is awesome and was made by someone else. I only used Cardinal Synth and Reaper in Eval licence. (i left my licence at home)
All of that using my laptop. I never properly configured JACK, Carla and all that jazz. It runs Linux Mint (LMDE) because i prefer debian over ubuntu.
And being with my laptop doing that made me think about how to improve it. Like actually replacing my dead soundcard and figure it out (by reading docs) how jack and such work.

I woke up in the middle of the night and because i wasn't able to catch the next train for Sleep-city i decided to look upon some stuff.
Like the next changes about Firefox and if it raised some suspicious feeling in my head. It actually did. So i went to looking to change browsers, nothing too devasting. Still gecko, still "based-on" what i know best.
Also through all this, i learned more about the syncserver thingy, since its the sole functionnality i like. But we still require to log on Mozilla servers? What is that? What this is still like that?
I was interested into Pale Moon and Basilisk since they have their own sync thing "herited from what it once was" but it seems incomptible with what i have.
I just stayed on surface of this.
I find it weird enough to have to log to Mozilla servers to use something on my server. It doesn't make sense to me, i'm not sure i like it, even if my server doesn't talk about my 100 tabs of videos of intense bread kneading to their servers.
text edit funsies
Secret for no one, i mostly use Emacs. Mostly to all the time. I try to do everything with it, because i thought that's how you get better with it. And Yesterday (that might be incorrect times) i was installing Glance to make my homeserver a bit fancier from outside, and starting to build myself a cool homepage for further experimentations.
Glance uses yaml config file, as many config files i used Nano because it's conveniant, "its here - it works" situation, and it hitted me, "why i'm not using Emacs, right?", Because Emacs unlike Vim and its children, its a GUI Text Editor. That's the whole point of the text editor war between those two
But there's a CLI version right? Yes. AND I NEVER USED IT. So watched some docs about it and found sleep too!
From what i saw on mainsteam youtube (without searching too much) people seems to use GUI-emacs to get their CLI needs like with eshell but just use CLI-emacs to do nano shit seems rarer. I can understand "why using a bus to go there if you can already take your own car" well because the bus is fun, it has tetris.
So i know new macros!
- M-x menu-bar-open or F10: it opens the top menu, which is handy.
- C-x 0 it's not even associated with CLI usage, but it closes windows. which is SUPER USEFUL why i didn't learned that before. I always used C-x 1 like a clown!
- while using dired: d :to mark files
- while using dired: x :to delete marked files
its cool, i love to still learning about emacs even the basics, i did not read the manual it's a bit long. And these days i got hooked on non-Elisp paranthesis programming language. I swear someday i'll do proper Elisp without stuttering too much.
Also closing this topic remember to have fun, you don't have to follow the cool trends if they're not fun to you.
Do i had fun using CLI Emacs and met indentation errors in my YAML file because i wasn't using YAML-mode nor know anything about it? ABSOLUTLY, YES. And would do again, and better this time!
what?
ok, small info. I don't drink coffee anymore. And i found a drink that looks like coffee enough. I'm reducing the caffeine, and i liked that, A LOT ANYTIME, ALL THE TIME.
That mysterious drink is cereal coffee, most explicitly "Caffè d'orzo" barley coffee. It's a caffeine free roasted barley beverage. When i was at the gamejam, the local cool café had that, and i had plenty of cups to say i liked it.
Returning home i went to the organic store to see if i can find the precious drink. The worker excused himself because he didn't have 'only barley' one (as the one i fell in love with) but he had some cereal coffee mix thing
We talked a bit about it. The product is a mix blend of Roasted barley, wheat and rye, chicory and roasted chick peas.
Taste wise its different but not far off. But if i came for some 1:1 coffee taste imitation i would be disappointed. It has a cerealy taste. On apparences it's just as coffee. Deep dark brown, with a gold-ish foam, it's the same in apparence.
The nutritional values about that mix blend make it more caloric than coffee 24kJ/6kcal against 4kJ/1kcal, and has more carbs 1.4g against 0.04g. (per 100mL)
Usually i don't watch those but it was interesting to see the differencies
The drink is good, i like it.
more?
Nah i'm good. Have fun, Keep your health in check, Spring is almost here.
