Say it!

December is here! Let's celebrate the victories of the year

i'm writing this article cooking a meal very late because i've been sick for a few days and skipped eating for few days. Here we are.

Disclamer: this is not a vegetarian nor vegan meal but if you care about it, i'll put some interesting points after the recipe

Recipe for a quick simple potée (vegetable & meat stew) for One person that gonna eat this for 3 days straight.

Ingredients

  • Buy the quick stew vegetable pack,
or 3 big carrots, 3 big leeks, 4 small turnip, 1 half cabbage, 2 onions
  • Buy the quick stew meat pack,
or 2 smoked sausages, stank, shoulder (pork)
Recipe
  • Grab the biggest pot you have
  • Wash and cut all the vegetable in resonable size
  • Put all the veggies inside the pot.
  • Grab the meat and arrange all of this in the pot (you can remove the skin of the stank if you want a less thick fatty broth)
  • Put water in it so everything is in water but not overflow this.
  • Add some herbs (Provence herbs: Thyme, rosemary, oregano, savory) a bit of salt, not too much meat usually comes salted and pepper.
  • Let it heat and simmer with small flame, minimal if you're using gas and '2' if you're using electric
  • After 1 hour of so its gonna smell so good but its not right yet, you can check the veggies, the meat and all. but leave it.
  • After 2 hours everything is kinda done and the water did some reduction. For good mesure leave it
  • After 3 hours its perfect but you can take another hour but some of your veggies are gonna be kinda molten in broth.
  • Take your best bowl, take each part, or just the veggies, without forgetting the broth and enjoy the warm food.

For vegetarian option: remove the meat and put some mushrooms add a little bit of oil you'll get some interesting flavor, also i heard about some people putting some bouillon cube too.

Updates?

Sorry i was way too happy to have energy to make a meal for myself, yes. updates.

So, i finally removed my expensive 5 speed MTB freewheel out of its hub. It's been a real chore, but did it without making much damage.

I now have a super old computer running windows XP for burning CDs also i might need some insights concerning that thing. My laptop still runs LMDE, i still do some FreeCAD.

Old PC stories and shenanigans

So i got this old computer from a library employee, instead of getting rid of it, she gave it to me. it's some piece of crap that was running windows XP. I tried my best to make it run some GNU/Linux magic because its my prefered type of operating systems and nowdays i'm more fluent in that than windows that never always been that case.

I encountered many weird stuff. Such as broken HDDs weird BIOS options i never knew about. And most especially being unable to burn CD the correct way, as if the optical drive were defective. I really think i didn't search properly the answer to my questions concerning "why burning CD software tested on GNU/Linux OSes cannot work properly once in real case environnement". I'll get back to it because while i dont mind having a computer with Windows XP, its not how i planned things up. As a matter of fact, i prefer some stable stuff that still have security updates, even if its just a crappy computer used for burning optical discs. I had plenty of weird issue like cds that cannot boot correctly, cd that were burned incorrectly. The only problem i didn't have was downloading faulty isos.

Somehow i wasnt able not once to have proper result out of Brasero, Xfburn and K3B. And it made me suspicious of my hardware. I switched to WinXP, got CDBurnerXP and everything's been ok. It's still bugs me out i didn't find what's was the issue on Linux. Especially with music CDs, all of them sound windy, and the same files doesn't sound like that burned with CDBurnerXP on Windows XP.

And writing it down make me think i didn't tried wine down CDBurnerXP. And i'll try again. Because its such a chore to use WinXP. No shade to those who do it though, you have the dedication i would NEVER have for Windows.

If you have any idea why those happend to me, well you can reach me on my socials.

I want to ride my bicycle!

I finished my bicycle. And i don't ride it for ... reasons. And i've been working on a new project for the next amateur bicycle building fest. I have plenty of ideas, and still no soldering station.

MIDI, Synth and Keebz

I worked on a cool project with a friend, a thing with 12 potentiometers and 12 rgb leds, its gonna be WILD. I'll write a bit about it next article.

what else?

I also take a bit time to fix my health, and return to music a bit. I really need to get my faircamp properly setup. but i still don't understand how it works. I thought i knew. but nah.

Recap

I didn't write a lot this year. Had my place, lost my cat and 'been in the woods' and its been ok. I'm still here kicking. I live a much healthier life i think. Unfortunatly i still have my spotify account. Its quite hard once you got hooked. Keep an eye for the First of 25 article.
