Hobbies Check
Last time on the bicycle and i think by the end of this month it's gonna be good. It was my main focus.
I slowly shift my focus from my bicycle to MC-1 midi controller. I got the PCBs and soldered all the parts. I must admit it's my first time with SMD. I think i dont like it, it was somekind of goal to test those parts, and yeah i'll stay with THT parts. Much easier to solder. I'll talk more about it below.
I trimmed my guitar body, but i think i'll trim a little bit more, it still chunky, the belly cut is ok but the arm rest is still to big. Also the head stock is not easy to trim with my tools, i want to tinker a little bit more on that
what's up?
Oh yeah some stuff i regret from the framebuilder training i got is the extra learning sessions we had on "Turning and Milling" and "TIG Welding". I loved the one on TIG welding but didnt learned a lot on it. I mean yes i got the basics-basics and i really hoped it wasnt just the basics.
I really want to learn more about TIG welding because i want to buy a machine. So i watched a bunch of article on TIG welders out there. According to my professor TIG welding a bicycle is cheaper than solder brazing it. I can see why but TIG welding is also harder on those super thin surfaces.
I dont wanna make mistakes and get all info i need before buying a machine too. I learned all the Multiprocess machines can also do TIG, but it's TIG Lift not HF (high frequency?), it's when you have to begining with a light touch between your tungsten and the piece to start the arc.
So yeah i got my head in this thing. Maybe starting with this, but i dont know if i can solder thin stuff. It's my only concern.
What's planned then
well i really want a thing for next year is moving out. then maybe create stuff. at home first i guess. The other part is maybe open some mixed craft place where people could chill but also create? Maybe like a hackerspace but broader range. The space could be the home of some temporary workshop??? Maybe it's way to ambitious for the city i'll be living though.
At first i wanted a place to build bicycle, but i don't know. Being a little bicycle framebuilder ALL ALONE is hard. I want M-x coop-mode and being able to still do other stuff like prototyping and designing stuff with free software for other people. I'm not sure. it's gonna be the objective for 2024.
Move out and see.
Other stuff to say
Might do more code stuff in 2024, i realized i was afraid to code in Arduino-C despite knowing some Plain C, maybe the ptsd from university because it was a whole year of hardcore math sprinkled with math applied to comp.sci and beside the algoritmics course and the C workshop that was like... 6 hours in the begining of 2nd semester it was just plain math all the time.. And yeah maybe dropping python a bit and getting back to the Gem of my life too. C was cool i liked it even if we didnt had a proper initiation to it. No proper intro to syntax and sementics. So i wouldnt mind getting back to Ruby too, after all it's my first, at least i will never write elif ever again and this makes me happy.
In my head elif is some ELisp package and explicit conditional pun, elsif is proper conditional statement.
I'll still use a lot of Python, by using circuitpython for microcontrollers but yes i need to end the loop of being scared of writing in Arduino-C. thats nonsense.
Next projects
i want to finish the Midi Controller and maybe work a bit on the guitar hero controller i designed almost 2 years ago? But the midi controller is something i really want to spend time on. Because its deep, plenty of stuff to learn on that one. I really want to fully understand what i'm doing there before getting on next project.
And?
Merry giftmas and happy calendar day.
